Chronicles of a Yayaless Yammy in the House (Sticky Post)

Day 2, Sunday

Day 2 was still easy. Mama took care of him during daytime and I took charge at night. No problems here. All was a piece of cake.

Day 3, Monday

This was full blast Yammy mode. I woke up at around 8AM. Mila, our all-around help, brought MiLo outside to catch some sun before taking a bath. We took a quick dip in the pool first and gave him a bath afterwards. Yes, after 11 months, I've finally given him a bath. He was very cooperative. He was not fussy at all. I love him dearly for being such a wonderful boy.

Later, we went to Glorietta to have dinner with the original Uno Animo at Dad's.

MiLo's 1st trip to Glorietta.

The original Uno Animo. At least what's left of it.

With Tita Jen and Vayie.

With Yammy.

As Feb's post-birthday treat, she bought us a cake from Dad's, too. It tastes better than Red Ribbon's version.

Feb's treat. Delish.

He got bored at times and whined a little, but in general, he was well-behaved. Grumpy, according to my friends, but still I enjoyed his company. :) This day was MiLo and I's ultimate bonding moment and I'll forever cherish this.

Day 4, Tuesday

Today, I brought him outside to catch some sun. We "swam" again and I gave him a bath again. Yey! I think I'm getting better at this. After his bath, I prepared his breakfast of papaya and milk. He truly enjoyed his meal as he almost finished a whole slice of papaya. Ang takaw! He got sleepy afterwards and while he slept, I cleaned and sterilized his bottles. I was online for a short time when I heard that he was already up. Picked him up and we played with his favorite toys.

He's fussy today compared to the last 3 days, but still I'm loving every moment that I'm being Yammy to him. Having no yaya around is difficult, but I'm surviving and loving it.

More stories to come.

Day 5, Wednesday

Today was Jowell's graduation. After bathing, feeding, playing, and putting MiLo to sleep, I got ready to attend Jowell's grad ceremony at Crossroad 77. His Tata Chelly fed him Gerber's mixed veggies while I was getting dressed. He ate a lot as usual.

During the entire morning, pinagdidiskitahan ng lolo niya nag buhok nya. He wants to cut it na, but we were advised by his pedia to wait until his 1. During Jowell's grad, I kept on texting them at home checking on MiLo and his hair. Hahaha. Good thing Papa had better things to do that he left MiLo's hair alone.

Early evening, together with his grandparents and Tata Chelly, they went to SM Fairview to get his Mama Lola's and Tata Chelly's graduation dressses. While the ladies were fitting their dresses, his Papa Lolo took care of him. He even gave him a bottle of milk, which he prepared.

When Jowell and I got home later, our adorable little boy was already sleeping soundly (read: snoring).

Day 6, Thursday

MiLo woke up earlier than usual. His Yaddy wanted to swim, but the water was a bit cold for MiLo. He cried when we dipped his feet into the pool. We gave him a bath instead.

Around in the afternoon after his nap, the 3 of us went swimming. He truly enjoyed this as his Yaddy was playing it "rough" on him. He was giggling, smiling, and laughing all the time.
His Mama Lola put him to sleep at I have work the next day.

Day 7, Friday

I went back to work. Sadly. His Yaddy took care of him today and I'm proud to say that they both survived. LOL

MiLo was still up when I got home at around 7PM. He was watching TV as usual. After dinner, I played with him. Oh, gosh! I have no idea where he got all his energies. He's so active. Jumping up and down and laughing and crawling and what-have-you. Maybe he had too much sugar or TV.

Oh, btw, I just learned from Mila that Ate Rose is not going back on Easter as agreed. She's planning to go back on May 2nd. I wasn't panicking until Mama told me that she'll be going back with Papa in Quirino on the 15th and that Mila is taking a vacation leave on the 26th. Oh, no!

Day 10, Monday

The chronicles end here. A replacement nanny has arrived, but it doesn't mean that I would be spending less time with grumpig.

Yayaless Yammy in the House Day 1

I'm on panic mode. Well, slightly.

MiLo's nanny, Inang Rose, went home to Cagayan for a 2-week vacation leave and will be back on Easter. It's the 1st time he (and I) will be yayaless for such a loooooooong time and I'm scared out of my wits. I've never even attempted to bathe him. It's either her and my mom. Never me. I've changed his dirty nappies, fed him, put him to sleep, played with him, but never given him a bath unless you consider swimming as bath. His Yaddy will be only available to take care of him fully on April 2nd after his graduation. Mom is busy the entire week with work. We have another help, but it's different without her beloved and reliable Inang Rose.

MiLo at x days old and his Inang Rose.

Day 1 is relatively easy as my mom is looking after him. I just texted her and she informed that our little boy just woke up and is playing with his Tata (aunt) Chelly. Good thing I have a family who adores and loves him so much taht they don't mind taking care of him. Thank God for families.

The next 2 weeks will be extremely difficult, but it will give me the opportunity to play mommy to MiLo. For the past 11 months, I was just his playmate Yammy. The next 2 weeks, I'll be his mommy Yammy. Wish us luck.

When I got home later today, MiLo was asleep. He woke up around 7:30PM. He watched TV while we were having dinner. At 8:30 PM, we turned off the lights to support the Earth Hour. Good thing's he's not scared of the dark. Gave him milk at around 10PM and his lola put him to sleep as have work the next day.

Day 1 was relatively easy.

Tintin Digest No. 2

While uploading a new vid on MiLo's blog, I blog hopped and snatched these from a fellow n@wie's blog:

1.The Bag/Purse Tag

By now, you probably know that I'm a big fan of bags. I like bags more than clothes and shoes because bags do not discriminate. While they have sizes like clothes and shoes, bags come in a size-fits-all. Before I get too sentimental, here are the rules:

1. Post a picture of whatever bag you are carrying as of late. No, you can't go into your closet and pull out your favorite purse! We want to know what you carried today or the last time you left the house.

2. List how much it cost. And this is not to judge. This is for entertainment purposes only. So spill it. And if there is a story to go along with how you obtained it, we’d love to hear it.

3. Tag some chicks. And link back to this post so people know why the heck you’re showing everyone your bag.

I got this bag just recently while husband and I were shopping for his graduation ensemble. While he spent a little over a grand, I spent a little under 300 bucks (equivalent to $6 or GBP 4) for this summer tote bag. Totally a steal. I love it.

2. The Penmanship Tag

I still write with pen and paper in spite of the advancements in technology. I write grocery lists, MiLo's party supplies, and yes, letters to my husband.

Here are the rules of Penmanship Tag

1. Write down who tagged you.
2. Answer these:
-your name / username / pseudo
-right-handed or left-handed?
-your favorite letters to write?
-your least favorite letters to write?
- Write “The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog.”
3. Tag five persons.

I'm done here. Feel free to snatch both.

Tintin Digest No. 1

I followed the lead of a batchmate. Instead of coming up with different titles every blog post, I decided to just call it "Tintin Digest No. xx". It's convenient and I wouldn't have to rack my brains and spend 1o minutes just trying to figure out a title. For those who don't know me personally, I can't start writing a story, a poem, a paragraph, and a blog entry without a title. Joanna's example has at least helped me to get over a writing hurdle. She's a genius. I wonder why I didn't think ot that? LOL
  • I've missed my favorites memes these past few weeks. I just got tired of dealing with the computer. Computer na nga sa office, computer pa sa bahay. Naloka ako. Hahaha. I'll be catching up, though.
  • There's this Flickr page that I frequent often. Sadly, when I checked it today, Nikki (the owner and a batchmate), had to keep it private because and I quote her:
"It has come to my attention that there are some people who wander over to my flickr to view these pics and misinterpret the images that i upload as "bragging" or showing off what i have, what i bought, etc."
Sad, sad, sad. I truly enjoyed visiting her site. I love her pics of his son Dwayne, their travels, her humble LV collection. While others misconstrue it as bragging, I find it enjoyable. Her Flickr page is like a book. It brings me to places I've never been, food I've never tasted, and probably things I'll never have - like an LV. Hahaha.

Nikki and I are not friends. We belonged to different cliques in high school. I do know, however, that she loves the good life. Why take it out on her? She can afford it. Work hard so you can play hard.

To Nikki, paano yan, wala ng magsa-save sa akin sa boredom when I'm at work? :P
  • I've been on SL for 2 days. My lower back is killing me and I can hardly move comfortably. I was supposed to go to Medical City today, but stupid, stupid me left my healthcard at home. I had no extra cash that I needed to go back home. Buti na lang, I live near pero tinamad na akong bumalik dahil ang init sa labas. Bukas na lng ulit.
  • Last Sunday, when we got home from church, there was a surprise waiting for us at the front yard. A huge inflatable swimming pool. Yahoo. So, maski alas-onse na ng gabi natapos mapuno ng tubig yung pool, nag-"swimming" pa din kami.

Ang lamig ng tubig. Sarap!
  • At siyempre, hindi papatalo si MiLo. He has graduated from the small pool to the big pool.
Araw-araw siyang nagswi-swimming. Enjoy na enjoy siya. On time, nilublob siya sa tubig. Pag-ahon, umiyak ng sandali at tuwang-tuwa na ulit. Sa awa ng Diyos, hindi naman sinipon.
  • I'm having a dilemma at work. Our team leads had imposed this stupid No VL for the next 30 days if you went on SL or EL. My argument is this. VLs are planned while SLs and ELs are not. Take my situation for example. On March 30 and 31, I need to go on a vacation leave because MiLo's nanny needs to go to the province to attend to something personal. My mom who helps me to take care of MiLo, is tasked to handle inquest cases for that week meaning she has to be at the office from 8AM to 5PM. My husband has graduation practice. I work for a call center and has the most flexible schedule to say the least. The thing is I wasn't able to go to work on March 2nd because I was not feeling well and March 30 and 31 are still on the 30-day rolling period. I'm stuck.
Last week, I've informed my supervisors if I can have my schedule adjusted from 7AM to 4PM to 10PM to 7AM so at least my mom would be able to look after him at night. Then, Jen, a friend of mine, pointed out how can I look after MiLo in the morning when I need to get some sleep so I can come to work at night. Oo nga naman. Kaya nga ako nagpa-adjust ng schedule, eh, para bantayan yung bata sa umaga, di ba?

I can ask Tin to swap RDs with me, but I need a Weds-Thurs off in April becuase of Jowell's graduation naman. Mina-migraine ako sa 30-day rule nila.

I emailed them my concerns and I haven't heard back. I told them that since we have that 30-day rule impleted, I have no other choice but to go on LOA (leave without pay) even if I have 10 or so available unused vacation leaves.

Our company's policy on leaves are vague. I so want to confront and question their policy, but you know what happens to those who question their authority, right? Read here. But if compromise fails, I really have no other choice, but to escalate the issue to our PM. I am well within my rights.
  • May napanaginipan ako. May bago daw kaming mga teammates. Tapos mag-isa lang ako na tenured agent at nag-meeting daw kami. Then, may isang newbie na nag-complain na nahihirapan daw siya at wala si Alex at si Tin. Wala daw siyang mapagtanungan. Na-offend ako kasi andun ako. Sabi nung isang newbie as if to defend me, eh, anjan naman si Tetay, nasa ibang bay lang.
Hahaha.
  • Thursday Thunks No. 11
1. The last flight of stairs you walked up/down - were the carpeted? No, these were the stairs going up to the MRT station.

2. Green or purple grapes? Either. I love grapes.

3. Do you like Peeps? Haven't tasted these yet.

4. The smell of Vicks - like it? Yes, but there was a rumor going around back in high school that inhaling too much Vicks will dry your brain. LOL

5. Do you put decorative cling-ons on your windows for different holidays? No, we have jalousie windows. But, I have different shirts for MiLo for different holidays.

6. Finish the sentence - I spent too much money on Havaianas.

7. Which celebrity should be flown into outer space or placed on a desert island? President GMA.

8. Would you support schools changing the "open" time? Such as 10am - 5pm, for example? We have "open" time here in the Philippines.

9. Do you go fishing? Yes, for information. Hahaha.

10. What question should we ask next week? On Easter, would you be an egg or a bunny?

I missed this. Glad to be back.

Havaianas Recall

MiLo has two pairs of Havaianas and unfortunately, both styles are included in the recalled items.

For the complete list of recalled Havs in the Philippines, please click here.

Terry SA, the official distributor of Havs in the Philippines, has issued an official statement through their newsletter.
Dear Havaianatico,

You might have heard about the recent U.S. voluntary recall of select kids styles due to a pigment used in the decorative paint on the sole of some of the flip-flops, which may contain lead in excess of the U.S. federal standard. Because you are one of our valued friends, we’d like to update you and provide you with first-hand information from Havaianas Philippines.

Because the safety and well-being of our customers and the public are our first priority, the Philippine distributor, Terry SA, has in an act of good faith, extraordinary caution and diligence, pulled out all the kids styles – even those not covered by those recalled in the U.S. – from the selling floor. This is why you probably have not seen any kids styles in our stores right now.

But nevertheless, we would like to assure you that as footwear, our products offer no health hazards whatsoever. The recall was specific to the U.S. and there have been no reported injuries or incidents in any country where Havaianas is sold, including the Philippines. We are confident that very soon, we will be able to introduce all new stocks of our kids styles, that have now been produced using organic dye and are fully compliant with any of the strictest international standards.

If you have any questions or concerns, you may call our hotline at (02) 8958744, and we would more than gladly provide you with the information and assistance that you need. You may also visit the website at www.havaianasphilippines.com/exchange

Thank you very much! :)

From: Havaianas Philippines
I'm not worried as Jowell assured me that lead is NOT toxic unless ingested. But, what the heck. I'm still calling.
